Your crystals are natural treasures, and a little care can help keep them looking beautiful for years to come. Because every crystal and mineral has different properties, there is no single cleaning method that is safe for every stone.

General Crystal Care

Handle your crystals with care. Even stones that feel heavy or durable can chip, scratch, fracture, or break if dropped or knocked against a hard surface.

Keep crystals away from harsh household cleaners, perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, and other chemicals whenever possible. If your crystal is set in jewelry, remember that the metal, adhesive, string, or other materials may require additional care.

Avoid exposing crystals to extreme temperatures or sudden temperature changes.

Cleaning Your Crystals

For many crystals, the safest general cleaning method is simply using a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently remove dust and fingerprints.

Some durable stones may be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth, but not every crystal should be submerged or rinsed in water. Soft, porous, layered, metallic, or water-soluble minerals can be damaged by moisture.

When you're unsure, keep it dry!

Avoid soaking an unfamiliar crystal in water, salt water, cleaning solutions, oils, or other liquids until you know that the specific mineral can safely tolerate them.

Sunlight ☀️

Sunlight can be beautiful for displaying your crystals, but prolonged direct sunlight may cause the color of certain stones to fade or change over time.

For long-term storage and display, keeping brightly colored crystals away from strong, direct sunlight is generally the safer choice.

Energetic Cleansing 🔮

Physical cleaning and energetic cleansing are two different things.

If energetic cleansing is part of your personal practice, you may choose methods such as smoke cleansing, sound, moonlight, Reiki, intention, or placing your crystal near other crystals traditionally used for cleansing.

Choose a method that feels aligned with your practice and is physically safe for the particular stone.
